[edit] Duplicate Pages
best thing to do is to merge the changes from one to the other, the put up a delete template tag up and one of us admins will drop the delete one later. (Omake sure to post on the talk page why its being deleted)

If you need to grab an admin, I suggest dropping by #gw-rc on irc.efnet.net. -Tro 17:19, 25 December 2005 (GMT)
[edit] Gentoo-Portage Beta
the beta of gentoo-portage.com is primarily to change/ad functionality, the underlying code to the site has undergone a huge change... basically i'm saying i'm not just changing the look, but i want to make it clear that the site has changed to people when we shift over to it, so the look does have to change. -- Thrasher 16:50, 19 February 2006 (GMT)
[edit] Igor
No, actually i did not notice it was you, i thought it was some Wiki code checker engine driving me nuts lol!! -Igor
Hey, since your the wiki master.. anyway i can get credit in the contribution thing for HOWTO i did since i did it before i registered my account? thanks - Igor! (sorry for bothering you, if i am)
The above was a missunderstanding.
[edit] I am Apache2
My old handle was Apache2, I am now known as sofa, due to popular demand in #gentoo on EFnet
Sorry for confusion ;)

[edit] What is wrong with the commandline template ?
Note: The page in question is HOWTO ROTT.
I had these removed from several pages i wrote, what is the reason? If you write a new page, there is a link to the Wikitemplate page. There is the Commanline template to use. So why does everyone remove it from all howtos but not from the template section. I think they look a lot nicer as the lines with one space in front of them. --the_mgt 15:05, 11 January 2006 (GMT)
[edit] Template Ebuild
How can I use the ebuild template in an another wiki page? I directly copied from here. But it seems it doesn't work :( 81.213.147.42
- As you haven't provided any contact info and the history shows you haven't logged in, I have to answer here instead of your user talk page. From here? There isn't any Ebuild template here. I made it, but where can I see an example of the problem? Writing app-emulation/wine works for me.
- Sorry for this. I want to use your template in a Turkish wiki page. But it seems it doesn't work. Template page:

[edit] Editting other's people pages
Editting other's people pages: Sorry, you're right. BTW: do you agree about the edit?
About the chess howto: I am just wondering why you still call this a stub. What else might be included? I added the chess howto to Index:HOWTO. Is this appropriate when it is still a stub? Or should I remove it?
- Nokfi 13 February 2006
Hi,
I'll wikify the chess howto somewhere this evening.
What would be an appropriate way to link to the talk page, if using http://gentoo-wiki.com/User_talk:UserName is not the appropriate way?
- Nokfi 14 February 2006
[edit] adding user name
So you mean that the string --[[User:AnMaster|AnMaster]] 08:57, 14 February 2006 (GMT) is not automatically generated? Do you include the time yourself everytime when you add a comment to somebodies page?
BTW: thanks for all your good feedback. I'll write a short howto about it (a stub :-) ) so that it becomes easier for other people to do this right the first time. Then I can include a link to this howto page. Or is there already such a howto?
Might I send you an email so that the communication is a bit easier?
--Nokfi
[edit] Using the talk page
Why do you use the string [[{{ns:User_talk}}:{{PAGENAME}}|talk page]] on your userpage while it seems equally valid to use [[User talk:Nokfi|Nokfi's talk page]]?
I includes some guidelines on my talk page about putting info on the page. In case something is missing, please let me know.
BTW, at first I completely overlooked the first few lines on your talk page. It is, at least to me, a bit lost between the banners and the Contents. Why not use the first section of your talk page with this info?

Thanks for the update on [[Wikipedia:Talk page]]. This was precisely I had been looking for to appear. Its trivial when you know it...

[edit] Tips on using Templates
Thanks for the pointer on HOWTO Gentoo on Cygwin on using inlined templates. I have stripped all instances of <nowiki><code></nowiki> code> from that page, even creating templates as necessary.
I'm going ahead and pulling off the {{Wikify}} notice, since I seem to have addressed all of the reservations that you have expressed on that page, but feel free to poke me again. I appreciate it.
Cheers! --Jalonso 03:42, 8 March 2006 (GMT)
p.s. Do you still feel that the {{Under Development|...}} insert is still necessary? When would be a good time to drop it?
[edit] Wrong revert
Note: 71.98.102.202
You reverted the last changes to HOWTO Undervolt a Pentium M CPU, but they were intentional.
How do you decide, which changes are "Spam"? Is it just because b12 forgot to log in before commiting the changes?
you didn't answered my question, so why should i not delete it?
I did. On the talk page of the IP you used. You were not logged in. --AnMaster 13:54, 7 April 2006 (GMT)
Oh, i'm very sorry. I didn't realize that. sorry.

[edit] prefixed gentoo
Hej
I would like to try the prefixed gentoo (have non-root-access Redhat Enterprise machine at work) but do not understand how to get the required bootstrap sources. Could you please advice on how to proceed?
Best regards,
Sven
- What? Why do you think I know? What page is it? I probebly just fixed formatting on it. Ask on the talk page of the article instead. --AnMaster 19:39, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Malformed update for HOWTO_Install_Bugzilla
Hi, I saw that you touched the HOWTO_Install_Bugzilla so you might know the area. I made a slight change to the "Tweaking MySQL for Bugzilla" to show that the user needs to created before the database can be created, however the change din't apply to the "tweaking MySQL for Bugzilla", but a previous sub-section "Using webapp-config to install bugzilla". The only link between the 2 sub-sections seems to be that the previous page update was to this different section. The diff looks like it's picked up a row of = signs as a subsection within the "using webapp-config to install bugzilla" section and has incorrectly attached the changes to there.
I'm guessing I could update both sections again to undo the malformed code and reapply it to the correct section, however it seems a nasty formatting problem to hit for my first update ;). Any help, or even a revert, would be appreciated.
Thanks, VRBones 03:12, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Fixed by editing the whole page rather than by specific section. VRBones 22:57, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] link to GPL
The GPL page that you refer to on your page is a candidate for deletion (Reason given: This page is both redundant and not Gentoo-specific. The few pages that link to it should go straight to the Wikipedia entry instead.). Just wanted you to know ;)
- Ah, well no problem, I'm not very active on this wiki any longer anyway. --AnMaster 09:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- All right then, I'm removing the GPL page. Edit: Uh, how do I do it? Do I need to create an account first?
[edit] Bot
compliments on your bot. very neat stuff. --Bunkacid 20:24, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Incorrect bot edit
The bot keeps adding the french link to Beryl on the AIGLX howto... I removed it, but it put it back on the very next day. Good work with it otherwise though! --Jbdubbs 17:20, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oops, it just looks at the interwiki links of all other languages and tries to find the right ones from that. Someone should check what caused it to do that. That is check the other languages for bad links. Also it is possible that a redirect could have caused it (that is if fr:AIGLX redirects to fr:Beryl or something like that). Or that happened in one of the other languages. :/ --AnMaster 17:24, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like you're right, the French wiki redirects HOWTO_AIGLX to HOWTO_Beryl. I'm not good at french at all, but I'm going to see about actually creating a Beryl page for the french site, and seeing if someone will take the time to either translate the English version or create a new one. --Jbdubbs 01:37, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Snoop_terminal_session#Screen
Hi,
I know is not a SLES site, but I was playing around with this in SLES10sp1 and noticed that even if the settings for
multiuser on aclchg snoopy -x "?" aclchg snoopy +x "wall" aclumask snoopy-wx acladd snoopy
were done in ~/.screenrc, the snoopy user can hit C-a c and he has an unmonitored session as the user he is watching. C-a S C-a tab C-a c also works.
Could you shed some light on this? Is it the same in other distros?
- I got no idea, why are you asking me? I don't even use screen. If I edited that article it was probably to clean up some bad wiki syntax or such --AnMaster 15:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
