  • The Gentoo support Forum
  • This Wiki Project (and of course the translations to the other languages :D)

Mailing list. I hope I am not offending anyone when I say that I hate them. In my experience

  1. Question are repeatet constantly in a short time
  2. Archieves are due to the Incompability of headers (stupid RE) often broken and information is lost.
  3. Mailing list are unmoderated. A message send is away. You can not delete it nor close a thread down nor mark it as duplicated.
  4. Mailing list are work. If the Mailinglist raises above a certain frequent of new Mails it starts to produce workingtime just to filter the interestin mails out. (Best example Debian Mailing list. I had over 600 Mails per day)

Maybe I work wrong with mailinglist but I do not like them. So please take no offense when I am not on the Wiki Mailing list. I do not have the time. I am realy sorry.
