IMHO the windows installation CD is able to automatically format the file.

Windows 2k/xp/2k3 can, but the older Win9x releases can't. They tell you that you have to format in order to be able to install, and although the format.com is on the disk, it's packaged - the only way to unpackage it is if you have diskspace to unpackage it to..... like a dog chasing it's tail.

[edit] Integration of Gentoo Linux and Windows

It would be nice if this page would have some hints regarding the integration of Gentoo Linux and Windows. Most importantly, how to set a Gentoo system up in a way that Windows clients can use it as a print/file server.
