Talk:TIP dispatch-conf
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
[edit] great that someone writes something about it
Still, me being n00b, don't quite understand how it works.. After emerge --update --deep world I have 73 (!) files to update.. :| When I run dispatch-conf (modified with colors & rcs) I'm kinda lost what I must choose.. Really, I think I'd rather copy the lot to windows and do it maually in notepad (yuk!) At least then I see what I'm doing.. The MAN page isn't of much help and neither is google very helpfull in this case.. :( (btw, I don't have a desktop suite yet..)
- Editing the config file changes manually is possible. See emerge --help --config for details of where the changed files are saved to (which dispatch-conf then gets and compares the the current versions for you).
- If you have any suggestions as to how this page can be improved further, please let me know.

[edit] How is this different than cfg-update?
Can someone put a table of plus and minuses?
[edit] colordiff: -R / --RAW-CONTROL-CHARS
For the second time I've now removed an edit that adds the -R flag to the colordiff setup for dispatch-conf.conf with no explanation. Both the edits were done by unregistered users, so I have no idea who made the edit or how to contact them for some more detail on it. This flag is not used by default and as far as I can tell (using these settings myself) is not needed. Until a reasonably detailed explanation of why it's needed is provided, I don't see why this flag should be added to the instructions.
