I object to the section on video. Install the "codecs" first and let the player use them? That may sound very familiar to Windows users, but is completely inappropriate for Gentoo. Codecs won't magically work with any player. You have to have a player that uses them, and, given such a player, it will install the relevant libraries on its own anyway. We need to suggest players and appropriate USE flags, not random libraries that may or may not end up being used by any given player.

Also: "Xvid handles avi"? What is that supposed to mean? Many avi files happen to be in an MPEG4 codec that Xvid can decode, but no Linux players that I know of use Xvid for the actual decoding (unless you ask them to prefer it over something like libavcodec), and even then, there are many avi files that are not MPEG4.
