Talk:Skype
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
[edit] This page is so old and out of date
Someone should rewrite it...

I had a hell of a time getting skype working on my amd64 system (couldn't switch to an alternative because of contacts). I ended up installing it in a 32-bit chroot environment to get sound I/O working and had to get a tool called gstfakevideo to make video work.
Did anyone else have an easier time? If not it would be good to have a warning suggesting a 32-bit environment.
I think some amount of info on setting this up should be included (and linked to on this page if not included), although I don't know where it would be appropriate for such specific hardware.
-- I'm using skype for linux natively on amd64. ALSA sound output via hardware mixer setup and my Creative MX webcam both work flawlessly.
