Talk:Rt2x00
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
Hi everyone!
Do we actually need the 'Manual Install' Sections? I think for a gentoo forum the installation through the ebuilds is fine.
If anyone is interested in the 'Manual installation' I might write something about that, but otherwise I would just delete that section.
What about you guys, who made the stub article in the first place?
- i didn't try the ebuild yet because i wasn't shure if it would work on my amd64 notebook. maybe you're right and manual installation isn't required any more. --[[User:Pythagoras1|Pythagoras1 (⠙⠊⠎⠉⠥⠎⠎⠊⠕⠝)]] 14:16, 30 Oct 2004 (GMT)
OK, so I will just look for a 'Manual Install' Link and put it up, when i find something suitable. But if anyone has made specials experiences during the manual installation of a rt2500 card - just write it down :-) Michael 01.Nov 2004 (14:17 GMT)
- i'll simply post the readme. --[[User:Pythagoras1|Pythagoras1 (⠙⠊⠎⠉⠥⠎⠎⠊⠕⠝)]] 16:56, 13 Nov 2004 (GMT)
Does this page really need more cleanup? I think it is quite useable...
Michael <-- who doesn't know what more to do here :-)

[edit] RT2500 and iptables
Has anyone been able to run rt2500 with a netfilter enabled kernel and iptables? I'm keep getting kernel panics if I do. However I do have preempt in my kernel and its stable except for the netfilter issue. --Jens 09:47, 17 December 2005 (GMT)
[edit] Loading the module
The article does not seem to discuss how to load the module. Also, a step seems to be missing for getting iwconfig to find the card.
I added some info to the UDEV section on how to configure udev to load the module with the firmware for cards that require it.
[edit] merge
I merged this page with the other rt2500 page, and I didn't have time to look very closely into it. I have this card, and I'm going to set it up sometime, but right now the page is a bit messy. Feel free to cleanup.
[edit] rt2x00 from git repository
The information in this guide is somewhat updated:
1. The CVS repo of rt2x00 is now closed, forcing users to use the GIT repo
2. An ebuild is available in the sunrise overlay for the latest version of the rt2x00 driver: net-wireless/rt2x00-git
