Talk:Make.conf.example
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
This can be found in /etc/make.conf.example. Why is this page needed? -AnMaster 14:04, 11 March 2006 (GMT)
Online copies of the Make.conf.example file are a useful convenience during installation. -- 67.183.25.94 16:20, 25 June 2008
But an up-to-date make.conf.example is available from the moment you untar the stage3 tarball. This version is woefully unmaintained - it hasn't been updated since Feb 2007. --AllenJB 16:48, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm inclined to support keeping the page here. But if it is to be deleted, perhaps it could instead be blanked, and a note left directing people to the make.conf.example available from the stage3 tarball? --24.10.232.156 20:23, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Don't know what happened, but the /etc/make.conf.example file has been removed some how from both of my gentoo systems. I didn't rm/mv the file. Where did the files go? This page is needed if the /etc/make.conf.example file has been removed.
I still think this article has merit, are we that in need of space? Just put a tag on the top and say that this article may be old and that most systems will have a more up to date copy in their own etc dir. I don't think having this up will result in anything bad happening to anyone.
Agree the article definitely has a use, orphaned or not an online resource that may not be available elsewhere. Ive updated the page to reflect a recent (as of today) make.conf.example
