Talk:HOWTO Widescreen Resolutions (WSXGA)

Someone should add a note about mplayer/gmplayer. You want to add "monitoraspect=16:10" to your ~/.mplayer/config. Otherwise, when you go into full screen mode, everything will be streched becasue mplayer assumes 4:3 ratio.

Also, I miss a section about framebuffer settings. And can we get grub and bootsplash to work with widescreen resolutions? Yngwin 12:56, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I know that this is late, I added a framebuffer section. I tried it out months ago, just never propagated it. As for grub/lilo it seems that they both use what the BIOS uses, or 640x480. I don't know if this could change using something like gfxboot. --Otho 21:37, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Wow what a cool resource. thank you for this. I use Ubuntu but have always wondered about vertical and linux games support for widescreen. kw123

Is there any information out there about getting rotation to happen automatically? Some newer screens sense when they are rotated. Under Windows, the display is adjusted automatically, so there must be a signal of some kind being sent. ReelExterminator 09:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
