There is no actual need to implictly specify ~x86 or ~amd64. Doing without works fine, too, and assumes ~arch where arch is defined by your profile.

[edit] Compiling gnome-vfs

Just a note that you may need to emerge orbit before gnome-vfs if you get 'syntax error before keyword struct' messages when compiling gnome-vfs (don't remember the exact message).

[edit] This page is horribly out-of-date

I'm not a full-time GNOME user (I've got gnome-panel and a few other little things running on top of Compiz), but this article is horribly out-of-date; anyone want to fix it (to show the upgrade path from 2.20 to 2.22, in this case.) 74.236.79.85 11:34, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
