Talk:Battlefield2 Server
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
It seems like BF2 (64-bit version) has linux kernel 2.6.19 incompatibility issue on Intel Core 2 Duo Platform. Problem is server fps drops to 25-26 even on completely free server, and "o:" number (near Average FPS string) constantly raising. On other platforms (I've tested Athlon64 and AthlonXP) on kernel 2.6.19 everything goes fine. With Kernel 2.6.18 on Intel Core 2 Duo BF2 works also fine without any problems.
If any one could confirm this, maybe we should add this info on main page. --Redbaron 07:35, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Battlefield 2 Dedicated Server Traffic
An Important Information for BF2 Server Installation is the Traffic. Here I hope you will find some Answers in future.
Full Server: 16 Slot Server: GB/h 32 Slot Server: GB/h 64 Slot Server: GB/h
Medium used Server: 16 Slot Server: GB/month 32 Slot Server: GB/month 64 Slot Server: GB/month
All Information must be used in caution of the fact, that few Servers running 24/7 with full use. So the Information could differ from above.
[edit] Wiki Compatibility
I used this Wiki to install a Battlefield 2 server on a Ubuntu box, and it was the single most helpful guide I could find, I don't believe any part of it wasn't applicable.
I made a couple small additions specifying NAT, as I had a problem where the server showed Status: [no game] when I put anything other than my LAN IP in the server IP (I kept thinking it needed to be my WAN IP).
One addition I would like to see is some auto-start information. All of the auto-start instructions I find are terribly difficult for me to follow, it would be nice to see some 'plain english' instructions (or better yet copy/paste!).
