[edit] Better Mirror for slim?

The script to install SLiM looks like it is hosted by the owner himself. Any chance we could get a better mirror for it?

Yeah, there are ebuilds for SLiM, I posted the link at the bottom of the How-To. --Claymore 20:48, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Make /etc/slim.conf read system files instead of manually editing a ~/.xinitrc?

Any chance we can get slim.conf do the reading of available desktops and loading them instead of have each user manually add & edit a ~/.xinitrc file? Nor do most distros don't even create an .xinitrc file these days.

I see something within /etc/slim.conf attempting to read/execute the system wide /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc file, however this xinitrc seems to be failing and falling back to the fallback method of creating generic a generic desktop with generic terminals & and the lovely old generic clock! (If I'm not mistaken, this system wide script should read the /etc/conf.d/xdm file for my default desktop name?) --Roger 16:09, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Personally could not answer your questions, but it may make sense to address (part of) them to the slim-dev mailing list [1]. --Landroni 12:18, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
