Talk:HOWTO PowerNow!
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
Works great on my Winch3200, thank you very much!
Uwe: Powernow seems to work only after a bios update on my msi k8t neo2 (amd64 3000+, venice core), and when using the conservative governor, the cpu frequency never comes back to full even while emerging large packages like gimp et al. echo'ing "performance" to the sys file goes back to full cpu frequency, but that's not exactly what I want. Any ideas?
Georg: dmesg | grep powernow gives: powernowd[7682]: segfault at 00002ac9ce27064d rip 00002ac9ce1b1c2e rsp 00007fffdca53b60 error 7 powernowd[9680]: segfault at 00002ac4802d064d rip 00002ac480211c2e rsp 00007fff2a9f3b00 error 7 Anything I could do?
[edit] 939-pin X2 CPUs and p-states
I don't know how old this documentation is, but my machine (which is definitely an X2 3800+) definitely doesn't need the p-states driver, and everything works just fine using cpufreqd, even in conjunction with the GNOME Frequency Scaling Monitor. I can change between the governors and everything with no problem at all.
