Talk:HOWTO Portable applications (on Windows)
From Gentoo Linux Wiki
[edit] "Deletion candidate" status
Please consider reviewing the "Deletion candidate" status after having read the recently added introduction. My view is that this article is geared toward Linux users that need to work in installation- and LiveCD-boot-unfriendly (Windows) environments, but would desire to make use of familiar Linux / Open-source applications. I see it as pertaining perfectly to the "Windows compatibility" category. If you still disagree with these arguments, please expand. --Landroni 15:06, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that this article has nothing to do with gentoo and should therefore be removed. Okay, it might be interesting information. But I don't think it belongs here. --145.103.105.1 10:39, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Among other ways to use applications portable, it would discuss at least three Linux distributions and Cygwin, all allowing to execute Linux binaries (or almost) on Windows, that is use native Linux applications on Windows. I don't see how it would essentially be different from, say, HOWTO Gentoo on Cygwin. --Landroni
