=Support= Subpag I've created a thread over at forums.gentoo.org regarding this HowTo for supporting this guide, take a look.

[edit] Changelog

11-24-2005 Gobble gobble... turkey day here, and with the unending flow of turkey I've done a major rework on the layout of the HowTo, it is now cut into 11 seperate pages. This became nesscary because the single page was over 38K of raw text, which the editor was complaining about and reccomended spliting. I also split the pages to reflect a better structure which should *hopefully* lead to more successfull implementations --Xarses 07:02, 25 November 2005 (GMT)

[edit] SSH Problems

I can't get the sshd to allow testuser access. If I turn passwordauthentication on it still says the password is wrong; Dp I need "UsePAM yes"? I'd be interested to see your sshd_config

I have not had to make any modifications to sshd_config. if you system was built without the pam flag, then that may be your issue --Xarses 19:25, 10 December 2005 (GMT)

Im currently rebuilding my test system, and it will be back up in a day or so and i will be in a position to give you a better answer. Xarses

[edit] eBox?

http://www.ebox-platform.com/ looks like a very nice starting point for an easily manageable ldap/samba/pdc solution.

I did not check how hard it will be to adept it to gentoo, yet. But if we could create an ebuild (or subproject) for it it could greatly reduce the hassle of getting tis vile beast of ldap/samba/pdc running in ideally just an "emerge ebox-platform && /etc/init.d/ebox-platform start --> config via browser". I'd certainly like this.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly like this HOWTO, but you have to admit that it's quite long and heavy, especially If you're rather interested in a SOHO-solution. Jamasi

Feel free to join ebox-devel mailing list or #ebox IRC channel in irc.freenode.net to discuss what would be needed to have ebox in Gentoo. It's a bit intrusive with configuration just now, but I'm sure all the issues can be fixed somehow.

Isaac Clerencia, from eBox development team

After a quick glance at the current src I'm not that comfortable with gconf, as it will pull in X11 as a dependency. I'd join ebox-devel, but before I'd like to catch up the last few discussions. Sadly the list archive seems to be broken atm. Jamasi

[edit] Subpages

A nice idea, but I think it should be done by making them as subpages to the index page. This way I could search wiki for LDAP and wouldn't see a whole lot of pages, of which I can't be sure which are from this HOWTO... --ZeiP 14:53, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

I second this notion, this or make them categorized and have it all on one page. Searching for "LDAP" returns too many results because of the way it currently is. --feystorm 02:08, Feb 2007 (UTC)
