I removed this little piece of code from the article: 

"rc-update add ivman default"

That is because it shouldn't be there, kde's automounting currently functions perfectly without it. If you install ivman and add it to your init scripts kde will be able to mount your devices but will be unable to unmount them and you will have to do this manually.
