The overlay doesn't sync anymore and the site doesn't work. Does anyone know the status? Temporarily down or what?

I got this message for the xeffects domain: Notice: "This domain name expired on 12/28/07 and is pending renewal or deletion". That was about the time my syncs stopped working. Anyone know what is going on?

This wiki says /usr/local/portage, but layman checks out into /usr/portage/local. I doubt this is unique to my system, but I don't know enough to change the wiki with confidence. Someone with some experience?

I think we should delete it since there seems not to be any development on this application.
