[edit] Is it the same with FAT?

Q: I'm just wondering whether it's the same procedure with a FAT filesystem.

A: Linux has a better support for vfat/fat16/fat32 so yes, it is the same procedure, and it should even be safer, and AFAIK you can install linux on a fat system (not that I recommend it, I just say I believe it is possible). Synss 03:54, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Error with qtparted 0.5.4-cvs

Using the latest Knoppix release, including qtparted 0.4.5-cvs, I get an error when hitting save. It says "Opening '/dev/sda2' as NTFS failed: Operation not supported" and the console says that support for opening NTFS file systems is not implemented yet.

Turns out this error was related to an unclean shutdown of Windows. Reboot, shut down cleanly, and everything is fine.

[edit] command line uttilities

is there any command line uttilities that can shrink windows partitions?
by the way gparted is better than qtparted so ubuntu could also be used

[edit] Vista already running on the machine?

If Vista is already installed on the machine, the use the builtin Disk Manager to resize the disk.
