Talk:HARDWARE HP Pavilion zv6000 series

Not sure why, but it appears someone edited out my contributions to this page. I did some kernel optimization, put some detailed hardware information, and maybe some other stuff. What gives? Is there a problem with the updates I submitted? -katepls

I would love to have someone host a kernel config file that I can diff with mine: I can't seem to get wireless working for the life of me. I either freeze when I modprobe ndiswrapper or it complains about "no dev BCM34XG NTamd64" and whatnot, depending on what drivers I try to use. Oh, and the link to the drivers on this page does not have bcmwl5.inf in it, it's netbc564.inf, and it doesn't work (for me). ~Eko

[edit] Merged

I have merged the article "HARDWARE Gentoo Linux 64bit on HP Pavillon zv6000 series notebook" into this article.
As I don't own a HP Pavilion zv6000 I have left a few comments in the page where I didn't know what to do. They look like:

<!--MERGE:text of the other page-->

Please fix them.

[edit] v2.6.14-gentoo-r5

I am new to gentoo and setting up my own kernel. And I have used the latist verion of gentoo 2005.1-r1 install cd. The kernel that used was v2.6.14-gentoo-r5. This guide seems really helpful but there are countless difrences between the kernel used in this guide and the latist one.

What I am asking I guess is it better to have the latist kernel, witch is my currnet belive or is it better the one that is being used in this guide.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me. And maybe some one could address this in this guided.

~William

[edit] ndiswrapper

Hi. Thanks for the info. I would like to know... how stable is ndiswrapper? I would like to own this machine, but I do need a stable wireless connection, and I am a bit worried to use a Windows driver!
