Great article and useful info. Needs some info on configuring the video options under X-Org for the screen resolution.

Out of curisity, and i don't want to put this into the article... Any chance to get software-control over LEDs on XPS?


To control LEDs under Linux :

http://linux.dell.com/libsmbios/download/libsmbios/libsmbios-0.13.4.1_BETA/

download the tar.gz , 

  ./configure && make && sudo make all
  sudo modprobe dcdbas
  sudo bins/dellLEDCtl -h
  sudo bins/dellLEDCtl -i
  sudo bins/dellLEDCtl -z1 1 -z2 2 -z3 2 -l 7
