Talk:HARDWARE Asus A8N-SLI

I keep getting a lot of crap from dmesg about lost interrupts, and my clock is drifting like mad:

Losing some ticks... checking if CPU frequency changed. warning: many lost ticks. Your time source seems to be instable or some driver is hogging interupts rip default_idle+0x20/0x30

The error is rather bad bios at the moment from what i heard. Try adding the bootoption notsc. it should help. Its basically only with the X2 AMD64 Dual Core Processors.

[edit] The red ones are only used for Silicon RAID

The silicon raid controller can use individual drives (sata_sil) and it is not only used for RAID. In fact, i have not found any other way to use them.

[edit] NV or SIL

Which one is better?

(I know, software RAID is bad and stuff)

[edit] On Board Sound

Thanks for helping me enable the SPDIF out! Now, how do I get dmix working properly? I can't get it to play two sound streams at once!

[edit] Some .config settings wrong

In the example .config, I can see a few things that may need correcting.

SMT should be disabled. This is only for Intel CPUs. NUMA should be disabled. This is for multi-processor boards.

I will leave it up to someone else to fix it as I don't have a A8N-SLI so there is a ~0.0001% chance that I may be wrong :p Krushia 19:08, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
