Why use RTC in ALSA and OSS mixer ... I have installed without this

Great work! :D Just too bad (for me) that you posted it exactly on the same day I fixed my Ati drivers + framebuffer troubles on my 5022. Do you need all those things in kernel like SCSI multiple LUN's and serial port support and tape support? My 5022 works quite good so far. It's true that I haven't gotten fancy stuff like the card reader, wireless and bluetooth (and the extra keys) working, though.

[edit] You don't have to manually type the "enabled : 1" stuff on every reboot

It's true, you don't. You can either put the command in /etc/conf.d/local.start, or do what I did, add a line to the module's init function to call the wireless activation function at a good place (so it'll always activate the wireless card automatically when the module is inserted). I've got a TravelMate 4404WLMi, but that shouldn't matter in the slightest (I stumbled into this page trying to find out what's going on with the battery module not working).66.158.232.51 19:49, 25 January 2006 (GMT)

[edit] Some bugs in article

1/ You don't need to use SMP

2/ I use 2.6.12-15 kernels and all work good.

3/ You need only to add ec_burst=1 to boot parametr , and you see battery state (don't patch kernel)

4/ one time load acer_acpi (not twice)

I still have problem with ati graphic , but i don't test new drivers. I want to use opensource drivers but , when i switch back to shell my linux crash :/ but i use Xorg 7.0 ... maybe on older version of this driver, this problem does't exist.

With new drivers i don't have this problem ... but i tested open-source drivers and they work very good for me. // ViruS

[edit] No need to restrict to kernel 2.6.12

Check out this HOWTO on how to fix the ACPI problems: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-122145.html It is pretty complicated to do but in the end you can use every kernel and have ACPI working more or less fine. You don't even have to disable apci_timer then. I do have still have a weird problem using powernowd that after heavy use the maximum scaling frequence drops down to 800 nearly all the time. I would really like to get rid of that problem but I don't know how. (email jorrit.tyberghein@gmail.com)

[edit] Optimizing performance and battery-saver

Do any one can change settings in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZS*/trip_points

when i change value i see change , but this dose't work :/
