Talk:Canon Pixma Series

From Gentoo Linux Wiki

Took the liberty of adding in info on AMD64 with GCC4 along with links to a page I made with the binaries for download. Everythings a little rough around the edges and will likely stay that way for a while - classes are due to start up again next week ShanSan 22:39, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The ebuild doesn't work

Don't try to use the ebuld it seems does not work, because the canon japan server is offline, actualy I don't know where find that rpm.

[edit] Is the ebuild gone?

It seems as though the ebuilds disappeared... I've no idea why, and can't find anything on why it was removed. Anyone have any idea? -- Democritus the Minor 06:45, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't seem to be gone to me - might the bugzilla server have been offline? -- Colin Kiegel 07:36, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] File not found por cnijfilter

I've tried to install but digest launch a file not found. To install it download driver from http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0024302.asp untar it and copy .rpm to /usr/portage/distfiles

[edit] Made section 'install' a bit easier to understand

I took the liberty of changing the section 'install' a bit, since I am relatively new to Gentoo and found this a bit confusing. I added en example for the file structure for the portage overlay, since I couldn't follow. But these steps where very easy once I figured them out. The rest was a piece of cake. I wanted to avoid others and beginners to get confused, since they ('we') are very thankful for the special cases provided in this Wiki.

I wanted to give myself away for you, so you won't think I spammed. It was a doing it, being confused, figured out, wanted to express it clearly under the fresh installing-impression.

Hope That was okay, because I did this editing without logging in.

[edit] Gimp-print

gimp-print-5.1.0 has basic support for the Pixma series printers. Its still in ~x86, but Ive been using for some time now and it seems to be in working order (no >600dpi yes, though, but duplex printing works).

Perhaps it is worth a mention in the article? Theres only gimp-print-cvs in the todo list right now.
