[edit] Introduction

SLiM - Simple Login Manager - is a little known Desktop-independent graphical login manager for X11. It offers enough functionality to be considered a viable alternative to XDM. Furthermore, it doesn't require unwanted GNOME or KDE libraries on your system. It is perfect for use with light-weight or minimalistic desktop environments like Xfce or Fluxbox.
