[edit] Problems and Solutions
[edit] Video
See this HowTo.
Problem exhibits when the lid is closed and reopened under X.org. A band of corruption shows up at the top of the screen, and will only go away by hitting Fn+F7 twice. This band can range from an inch or so to covering the entire screen. The solution requires installing the ibm-acpi driver. To fix the corruption problem run echo auto_disable >/proc/acpi/ibm/video as root. Add this to /etc/conf.d/local.start to have it run on startup.
[edit] Framebuffer
Possible solutions:
- Use vesafb
- Use "video=intelfb vga=0x318" (Reported to work with gentoo-sources-2.6.23).
Framebuffer works also with tuxonice-sources-2.6.23-r10
