[edit] Introduction

This article is being created to get Gentoo Linux running smoothly on the Dell Inspiron 640m laptop. It can be a little tricky, so bare with us, and you should have a fully working gentoo box by the end of it.

[edit] Installation Notes

When booting of the Gentoo Livecd, use the nox option as X won't start with the basic options. Once you get into the command line, feel free to edit the xorg.conf to how you need it to be to start X. You can't use widescreen without 915resolution, and it doesn't come on the livecd, so don't bother trying to set your native resolution.
